What is DTF printing?

DTF stands for direct-to-film. Instead of printing artwork straight onto a garment, the design is printed onto a transfer film and then applied to the fabric with heat and pressure. The garment itself only enters the process at the final stage.

That two-step approach is what makes DTF so flexible. Because the artwork is printed on film first, the design does not have to be simplified into separate colour layers the way screen printing requires, and the process is not limited to a specific fabric composition in the way some other decoration methods are. A photographic image, a gradient-heavy logo and a design with dozens of colours are all handled as one print rather than as a colour-separation problem.

For businesses in Dubai, the practical result is straightforward: DTF printing makes small and medium runs of complex, full-colour designs realistic. You are not forced to order hundreds of pieces to justify a setup, and you are not asked to strip your brand artwork down to two flat colours to make it printable.

What businesses use DTF printing for

The requests below make up most of the DTF apparel printing we produce.

Custom T-shirt printing: Company, campaign and event tees where the design has colour, detail or an image that needs to survive intact.

Corporate apparel: Branded clothing for staff and management where the brand mark is more complex than a simple one-colour logo.

Uniform branding: Logo application on staff uniforms where the artwork is not suited to embroidery — often used alongside embroidered polos.

Promotional clothing: Giveaway apparel for launches, campaigns and sponsorships, printed in the exact brand colours.

Event & activation apparel: Crew and volunteer shirts for exhibitions, conferences, sports days and brand activations.

Team & group apparel: Department clothing, team names, numbers and group designs printed as a coordinated set.

Choosing between DTF, screen printing and embroidery

There is no single best method — the right one depends on the artwork, garment and quantity.

DTF printing: Best for full-colour, detailed or photographic designs, and for small to medium quantities where a per-colour setup would be inefficient.

Screen printing: Efficient for larger runs of the same solid-colour design, typically simple logos or text repeated across many garments.

Embroidery: Best for compact logos, names and crests on uniform garments where a stitched, formal finish is wanted.

Mixed in one order: Embroidered polos for daily staff wear and DTF-printed tees for an event can be produced within the same order.

We advise, you decide: Send the artwork and we will tell you which method suits it and why, including where DTF is not the right answer.

Sample-first for large runs: For a significant rollout, we can produce a single piece for approval before the full quantity is committed.

Preparing artwork for DTF printing

Good input files are the single biggest factor in how a printed garment turns out.

Vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF) reproduces most reliably at any size

High-resolution PNG with a transparent background is a good alternative

Avoid low-resolution images pulled from social media or a website

Tell us the intended print width in centimetres, or ask us to recommend one

Confirm the garment colour — it affects how the design reads

Supply brand colour references (Pantone or hex) where exact matching matters

Flag any text that must not be resized, cropped or repositioned

Send the print positions you need — front, back, sleeve or a combination

Ordering DTF printing as a business

Most of our DTF work is business rather than one-off personal printing, and business orders come with different needs: a purchase order or quotation to approve, a size breakdown across a team, a deadline tied to an event, and a requirement that a reorder next quarter looks identical.

We handle that with a written quotation covering the exact specification, a digital proof before production, and a record of the approved artwork and print dimensions for future runs. If your order needs to be invoiced to a company with delivery to a specific office or site, that is arranged at checkout.

If you are also ordering uniforms or embroidered apparel, tell us at the enquiry stage — it is usually more efficient to quote and produce the whole apparel requirement together than to split it across separate jobs.

Ordering DTF printing in four steps

A clear path from artwork to delivered garments.

Share your requirement: Send the item, quantity and any size or garment details through WhatsApp, the quote form on this page or our contact page.

Artwork review: Send your logo or artwork in vector (AI, EPS, PDF) or a high-resolution file. Our team checks whether it will reproduce cleanly and tells you if anything needs adjusting.

Quotation & approval: You receive a written quotation covering the exact specification. Production starts once you confirm the quote and approve the digital proof.

Production & delivery: The job is produced in Dubai and delivered across the UAE, or collected from us — whichever you prefer at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

What is DTF printing? DTF means direct-to-film. Your design is printed onto a transfer film and then applied to the garment with heat and pressure, rather than being printed directly onto the fabric. This makes it well suited to full-colour and detailed artwork.

Is DTF printing good for full-colour logos? Yes — that is its main advantage. Because the artwork is printed as a single full-colour image rather than separated into individual colour screens, gradients, photographic elements and multi-colour logos are handled in one print.

What is the minimum quantity for DTF printing? DTF is practical for smaller runs as well as bulk orders because there is no per-colour screen setup. Tell us your quantity and we will confirm what is workable and quote accordingly.

How much does DTF printing cost in Dubai? Cost depends on the garment, print size, number of print positions and quantity. We quote each job individually — send your artwork, garment type and quantity for a written quotation.

Can you print on garments I already have? Contact us with details of the garments and we will confirm whether we can work with them. We also supply apparel from our own catalogue, including polo shirts and safety wear.

Can DTF printing be used on uniforms? Yes. DTF is often used for uniform branding where the logo is too detailed or too colourful to stitch. Many companies combine embroidered polos with DTF-printed T-shirts in the same uniform set.

What file format should I send? Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) are ideal. A high-resolution PNG with a transparent background also works well. We check every file before printing and tell you if it needs improving.

Can I print on both the front and back? Yes. Front, back and sleeve placements are all possible. Each print position affects the price, so include all the positions you need when requesting a quote.

How long does a DTF printing order take? Turnaround depends on quantity, garment availability and the number of print positions. We confirm a realistic timeline in writing with your quotation.
