A master site plan at 1:200, a full-floor architectural plan on a large tower, a drainage layout covering an entire plot — reduce any of those to A1 and the annotation starts fighting the linework. Printing at A0 keeps dimension text, level markers and hatch patterns at a size people can actually read on site.

Getting an A0 file right

A0 is unforgiving of setup mistakes, because everything gets enlarged along with the error.

Export the PDF at ISO A0 (841 × 1189 mm), not at a smaller size to be scaled up

Check the orientation in the PDF — a rotated A0 sheet wastes a lot of paper

Confirm any embedded aerial photos or renders are print resolution, not screen captures

Keep the title block inside the printable area so revision data is not trimmed

Allow for rolling — A0 sheets are supplied rolled unless you ask otherwise
